The reading of construction blueprints is a foundation skill in construction. All construction professionals, regardless of trade or whether they are working in the field or in the office, must know how to read blueprints.

This fundamental skill set is used during all aspects of a job, from bidding a job, to planning the completion of a task at the foreman level, or even making simple references in regards to circuit loading at the apprentice level.

The ability to read a print is going to enable the worker to complete a job or task, with the necessary accuracy that is required based on a bided contract. If done incorrectly, there could be serious financial or safety implications.

This course will take the participants through the stages of blue print reading including understanding symbols, dimensions, elevations, different drawings, understanding job specifications, interpreting information of different schedules that are included in a print package.

This course will enable the participants to walk through a real set of commercial blue prints for a mid-size job. The second part of the course will focus on various group work/ case studies that are designed to dissect aspects of a certain task, this will assist the learner in breaking down the information presented on a print, for ease of understanding.
