Training Types
WIRED Guide to Mentorship
Apprentices will have a variety of mentors throughout their careers. These mentors can be divided into two categories—those that are assigned related to a specific task or job, and those that are chosen strategically by the mentee. Whether they are assigned or chosen, there are important ways for apprentices to be successful, such as:
- working effectively with your mentor,
- using good communication and conflict resolution skills,
- understanding the mentor’s perspective, and
- advocating for your learning needs.
The six-step mentorship process described in the WIRED Guide to Mentorship can be used by new apprentices and seasoned electricians alike to get the most out of apprenticeship, either as a mentee or a mentor.
Enrollment for this course can be completed directly through Moodle, WJETS’ Learning Management System.
The course is open to everyone who wants to learn more about Mentorship and DEI in the Skilled Trades.
