This electrical code course is specifically designed for Journeyman electricians that are preparing to write the BC Safety Authority – “B” Field Safety Representative (FSR) certification examination and those wishing to update their current electrical knowledge.

The code course will cover the current Canadian Electrical Code, plus the accompanying BC Amendments. The Electrical Safety Regulations, Safety Standards General Regulations, Safety Standards Act, Electrical Directives and Information Bulletins, will also be covered in the course. Those wishing to write the “A” – FSR exam will be provided with additional code reference materials, work sheets and a mock “A” exam in preparation for writing the BC Safety Authority “A” FSR exam.

 FSR ELECTRICAL CODE COURSE

 Course Description:

 This electrical code course is specifically designed for journeyman electricians that are preparing to write the Technical Safety BC – “B” Field Safety Representative (FSR) certification examination and those wishing to update their current electrical code knowledge.

Individuals interested in writing the “A” – FSR exam will be provided with additional code reference materials, work sheets and a mock “A” exam in preparation for writing the Technical Safety BC “A” – FSR exam.

Electricians and 4th year apprentices interested in increasing their electrical code knowledge or preparing to write the “Red Seal” exam are also eligible for taking this course.

Course Content:

 

  • 2021 Canadian Electrical Code (44 sections of the BC Electrical Code)
  • BC Amendments, Electrical Safety Regulation, Safety Standards General Regulation, Safety Standards Act, and the Electrical Fee Schedule
  • Electrical Directives, Information Bulletins and Safety Orders
  • National Building Code (BC Building Code) as applicable
  • National Fire Code as applicable
  • ULC Fire Alarm Systems standards as applicable
  • Various CSA Part 2 Electrical Equipment construction standards as applicable

This code course offers a perspective from an electrical safety officer’s 26 years’ experience culminating in 45 years overall experience in the electrical industry.  The course is primarily designed to provide students the required knowledge for successfully writing the TSBC – “A” or “B” FSR exam but will also impart significant “real life” practical electrical knowledge, examples, experiences, insights and identify common non-compliances that will enhance the value of the code and be useful for day to day applications for electrical workers.

The IBEW Local 993 Hall has a large fenced yard around the back of the building.
